Happy New Year artists!
Need some inspiration and motivation? We are pleased to start this new year off with a special presentation by our own Edmonton Chapter member, Lasha Barbosa.
When: Wednesday, January 14th
ONLINE at 6pm
Overcoming Adversity: The Power of Resilience in Art and Life
Join us for an inspiring virtual presentation entirely in American Sign Language (ASL) with an English interpreter, and an English speech app for all to understand, by Lasha Barbosa, SFCA, a Fine Artist and brain tumour survivor.
In "Overcoming Adversity: The Power of Resilience in Art and Life," Lasha shares her deeply personal journey, from diagnosis and treatment, to discovering profound healing through art therapy, and ultimately embracing resilience that reshaped not only her career but her approach to everyday life.
Her story highlights how creativity can become a powerful force for recovery, growth, and transformation.
Lasha is a Signature Member (SFCA) of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Born in Whitehorse, Yukon, her archival ink works on cotton paper are inspired by the healing beauty of the Northern Canadian landscape and the whimsical, anthropomorphic charm of wildlife. As a non-verbal artist who communicates in ASL, she also teaches ASL art classes and delivers motivational talks that encourage others to tap into their own resilience and creativity. This uplifting talk promises to leave you inspired about the transformative role art can play; both on the canvas and in life.
