EDMONTON CHAPTER

The mission of the Federation of Canadian Artists is to advance the knowledge and appreciation of art and culture to all Canadians, offering education, exhibition and communication in the visual arts, and to support and promote emerging to professional member artists.

The Edmonton Chapter of the FCA is a not-for-profit affiliation of artists, all current members of the FCA. The chapter strives to to fulfill the the mission of the FCA through activities organized locally, within the Edmonton and surrounding area.

Any member of the FCA is eligible to join the Edmonton Chapter as an affiliate, even if they live outside the boundaries of the chapter. The FCA has granted the Edmonton Chapter the ability to organize and control exhibitions and workshops within the boundaries shown in the above map. (North to Gibbons, South to Leduc, West to Stony Plain and East to Fort Saskatchewan)

The chapter's current goals are as follows:

Promote the visual arts in the Edmonton and surrounding area
Develop a website that will keep affiliated artists aware of opportunities and events
Help affiliated artists to promote all aspects of their practice
Host two juried exhibitions sanctioned by the FCA per year
Offer networking opportunities to affiliated artists
Offer learning opportunities to all artists
Fulfill the motto "Artists supporting Artists"

CHAPTER History

In February of 2019, after numerous conversations and emails with the FCA in Vancouver, a group of local artists started discussing the possibility of forming an FCA chapter in Edmonton.

The enthusiasm was huge; the number of active artists eligible to form a chapter was not. It was obvious that more active status artists needed to be recruited to the FCA from the Edmonton area.

With the combined efforts of Barbra Regamey McDonald, Joyce Boyer, Cindy Revell AFCA, Doris Charest AFCA and Miles Constable, a jurying session was held on November 28, 2019.
