Artist Statement

Daniela Bahry Art Bio

Daniela Bahry is a visual fine artist who’s work is primarily in acrylic and oil painting.
Daniela’s use of colour and careful attention to dimension and perspective, engages the viewer into the scene and makes them feel as if they are there in that moment. This is a talent and trait that she has developed and perfected in each of her tree/landscape and floral works of art . Daniela is able to draw you into her own reality in space and time.
You can visit her current Winter 2023/2024 Collection at the Little Brick Café and General Store where she has her own solo show from December 1st thru to January 30th, 2024.

Biography

Design Arts Grant MacEwan College 1981- 1983
Figure Skating Coach/Costume Designer/Dance Teacher/ choreographer 1981- Present
I started back into painting May 2016, when my daughter took me to a paint nite. I took a leave of painting for about 25 years, but that didn't mean I wasn't creating and being artistic. I taught Figure Skating ( and still am coaching part-time) where I designed and made dresses, choreographed skating programs, all while raising my children. Oh did I mention dancing, I also taught dancing for about 17 years.
Did my first Edmonton Art Walk 2018 and again 2019, as well as my first Strathearn Art Walk 2019.
Applied and received admittance into the Federation of Canadian Artists 2021and have won awards in several shows.

Balwin Junior High School - Art award Grade 9 1977
M.E Lazerte High School - Art 10, 20, 30 courses with excellence
Grant MacEwan College - Design Arts 1981- 1983 Graduated with Excellence
Working for The Registry and Spice of Life stores 1985 - 87
Designed and made many skating costumes, chose and edited music selections for skating programs, plus created the choreography as well as developed individual yearly training plans for skaters, . . . 1981 - 2020
Taught a variety of Dancing disciplines (1981 - 2000) and Danced in Volya (1990 - 1995)
Director and Head Coach, mentoring new coaches, for several skating clubs 1990 - present.
