Artist Statement
Inspired by the duality of our nature.
Seeking the epic story behind everyday life.

Lori’s deep attachment to landscape is readily evident in her work. Organic mark making creates a dialogue with the structural and conceptual foundation provided by her background in architecture and urban design. The combination conveys a sense of beauty, power, and mystery overlaying the things we see and experience in everyday life.

In addition to the physical landscape, Lee Bontecou, Joan Mitchell, John Marin and Odilon Redon are sources of inspiration, as is the occasional glass of single malt scotch whiskey.
Biography
Lori has been painting abstractly since 2005, after careers in architecture and software project management. She has studied privately and at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, and exhibits primarily in community and public galleries. In addition, her work is found in corporate and private collections in Canada, the US, and abroad. Teaching, supporting charity efforts, and serving on the Board of Directors of arts organizations are ways that Lori gives back to her community. Born in Edmonton, Canada, Lori has recently returned to the Canadian prairies after living in Nova Scotia, Boston, New York City, and Vancouver Canada.
