Biography
A desire for depicting on canvas, the land that she was born in, has led Judy Leila Schafers on a personal 40 year journey of artistic discovery through the medium of acrylics. Her belief is that so much can be learned by just taking the time to 'look and see' and uses these observations as clues to inform her realistic painting style.
Judy is an informally trained painter through years of solitary practise. She is always looking to learn more by remaining curious about the world, experimenting and applying advice from other artists through their critiques and reading magazines on the subject of art.
She has also been very active in her local arts community by serving behind the scenes and on the boards of several non profit art societies and guilds.
Judy lives and works on her family's busy grain farm west of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Here, she owns and operates her studio/gallery, hosts well attended annual art events and gives painting instruction. She has consistently won numerous art awards and her work is held in private collections on several continents.
